That State of Maine has the highest death rate from Mesothelioma of all the states. The National Institute for Occupational Health and Safety
Between 1999-2005 over 18,000 died from asbestos related cancer.

This was calculated at 14 asbestos deaths per million people each year.
In Maine however, the statistics were 27 deaths per million during the same period.
