Denture Cream Litigation Moves Forward

The denture cream litigation, in which more than 35 million Americans may be effected has moved closer to trial after attorneys appeared in court to discuss discovery issues.

The products involved are denture creams or adhesives marketed under the brand names Super Poligrip and Fixodent. On February 18, 2010, Glaxo "GSK" announced that it would stop manufacturing, marketing and advertising Super PoliGrip denture cream products containing zinc. Procter & Gamble, "PG", which manufactures Fixodent has not followed suit.

It is estimated that 35 million Americans wear dentures and use denture adhesive creams such as Super Poligrip and Fixodent. These products have been found to contain zinc. Excessive use of Super Poligrip or Fixodent may cause zinc poisoning. This is fairly common among people who have difficulty securing their dentures. Overuse may inadvertently expose them to dangerous levels of zinc. Zinc poisoning can cause copper depletion, resulting in serious neurological problems such as neuropathy, numbness or unexplained pain. Neurological damage caused by zinc poisoning from Super Poligrip and Fixodent is not always reversible. In many cases patients are misdiagnosed by their doctors with other conditions such as:

  • ALS
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Demyelinating Syndrome:
  • Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP)
  • Guillain-Barré Syndrome

If you or one of your loved ones suffers from neuropathy or other neurological symptoms and have used Super Poligrip, Fixodent or other denture creams you are urged to contact DrugSettlement.com. For more information click here .
